Petrof are not as well know in the US as Kawai and as they are made in Europe they tend to follow the European taste in sound a softer tone in the treble and a richer tone in the bass, which is not to everyone’s liking as a product Petrof have come a long way in the last 10 years and the quality of workmanship is now just as good as Kawai but it has not always been the case. American tastes are changing and more players are looking for the softer European taste in sound Far East makes like Kawai tend to make pianos bright to suit the US market but not as bright as Yamaha do after all the US market is still the biggest piano market for new pianos that is why some love them and some don’t
