Joshua Marshall & Co Ltd pump organ
Post by Showmepro1200 »
Bill -
Found your Piano forums while searching the net trying to find information regarding an antique pump organ of which I am in possession. It has the name of Joshua Marshall & Company, Ltd. very clearly on it, and its in fine shape, still works well. I know there's also a serial number, but I don't know it offhand (covered up in storage).
I have found that this instrument came from the UK at some point in its life, I found a threepence "church work ticket" inside the body that said Skelmanthorpe Church on it. Skelmanthorpe is a city no longer in existence, was merged into Denby Dale at some time.
Looking to find out more on the organ, and its value. Please forgive me if my terms and spelling are bad.
Please advise. Thanks - Jeff

Firstly, no-one will value an instrument without on-the-spot inspection. I know nothing about pump organs, but I know Marshall as a piano firm. In 1886, they were Wood & Marshall, but by 1894, Marshall Ltd. They survived until the second world war. If you have logged in, you can press www and read about Archives, Booklets, Reports, etc.

I'm not really looking to get someone to value the organ, I'm more looking for someone who maybe knowws the company and/or could point me in the direction to find out more on them and get a history on this individual instrument. Thanks.
I will check where you said though, much appreciated.

I have a piano by the same name, maybe we can share info or something. My parents found an organ by this company in Michigan. Maybe we can find that guy too.
