Kemble 114cm
Post by Iloveapiano »
Hello,
I am trying to identify the model of a 1992 Kemble which is 114cm tall with a Langer 100 action. Inside there is just the serial number, no model details. It has the large letter K in a circle on the frame. It's too large for an Oxford, and too small for the Traditional. It has the Yamaha style pedals.
Any help would be appreciated.

it may be the Buckingham Piano pre 2005
88 Note,
Height 114 (44 3/4")
Depth 54 (21 1/4")
Width 150 (59")
American Walnut Satin
Black Polyester
Black Polyester & Chrome (photo)
Natural Oak Satin
They also did. but that was after 2005
Our new Concerto piano is a mid sized piano (114cm) inspired by our best selling 124cm Conservatoire model. It has beautifully rounded edges and profiles, and the subtle use of brass (or optional chrome ) further enhances the visual experience. It is also available in a version with handmade marquetry inlay. If space is an issue then this smaller piano could be the answer; whilst it is also surprisingly affordable. Superb control Our precision manufactured action and carefully weighted keys provide excellent responsiveness of touch.

Thanks very much for the information.
Yes it could well be, although this one I have is actually deeper at 57.5cm but narrower at 147cm.

Re: Kemble 114cm
Could it be an Oxford 15 ? My Kemble catalogue from about year 2000 doesn't include an Oxford 15, only the Cambridge 15 which is listed at height 115, depth 58, width 150cm. I wonder if the larger width was caused by a small design change due to move over to Yamaha parts (eg the frame) at the date of the catalogue.

Yes, it could be one of the larger Cambridge frames put into an older or modified Traditional style case.
My main reason for trying to find out, apart from curiosity, is I am advertising it, but not sure what to call it apart from just a Kemble upright.
Thanks

I do have the pre-2000 websites but they are on a 5.5 MS floppy disk i'll see if I can get a 5.5 reader that will work with a Mac. As it would be handy to archive them.

Thanks for all that Barrie.
It seems that the 114cm is a bit of an anomaly. It's definitely not a Cambridge 15 with legs, the style of the cabinet is completely different. Also, the frame on mine does not go right to the edge at the bottom on the right side which the Cambridge does. The appearance seems to be most similar to the Yamaha P series of the time, so I wonder if Kemble had some older frames they tried to use up in a Yamaha P series cabinet.
Anyway, in the end I advertised it as a Kemble K114 and it sold within a couple of days.
