I have inherited a Welmar baby grand serial no 21739 which I believe was made in 1938. My great grandfather, so I have been told, was making Welmar pianos in 1904 and either owned or was employed by Cremona. His father, Lewis G Lyon, had been making pianos in Camberwell since 1883 at Lyon Piano Works in Notley St, Camberwell.
My piano is made in Walnut which I believe is rare. It is played regularly by my great grandchildren.
Does this history sound correct or has my family embellished it a bit?
