Were piano tuners going insane often?
We have all heard the story that at the turn of the 20th century there were more piano tuners in insane asylums than any other profession. On this site Gill Green cites court testimony about insanity in tuners. But has anyone tracked this story back? Was there ever any research on insanity in tuners? Thanks for your help.
