F Menzel Upright Grand Piano
I am due to inherit this piano shortly and am trying to find something out about it, but cannot trace the maker. I have found Wilhelm Menzel but not F Menzel. I have great sentimental attachment to this piano, as I learnt on it, and it has been in the family on my Dad's side for over 100 years. I think it was manufactured in the late 19th century. It is in good condition considering its age, and has had some superficial restoration done on it. However, the 'una corda' pedal does not work, and a few of the dampers to the very large strings do not work. Also it is in need of tuning and some of the strings are not holding their pitch as well as they used to. That said, it still makes a good sound and I enjoy playing it. I'd be very grateful for anything you could pass on to me about it. Many thanks.
