2. Clean outside of vacuum cleaners
Clean all the dust on the surface and corners of vacuum cleaners. Check if there is any leakage in cords, or plugs. Make sure all unplugged before you clean the cords / plugs with a dry cloth. Never let the plugs wet during the cleaning process. If you find any leakage, stop cleaning and get that part replaced at the earliest, don’t use the vacuum cleaner before the leaked plug has been replaced.
3. Check the bags / canisters:
For a bagged vacuum cleaner: never reuse the overloaded bags especially if the bag is the main part of the filter. Reusing the bags or using overload bags will lead to the most common cause of loss suction: blockages, which make the best vacuum cleaners in the world slow to pick up and quick to overheat.
Replace the bags when the indicator light in the machine shows when to replace bags. If the machine doesn’t have the indicator light, then you could open the bags and visually inspect, but this might release some dust back and cause annoying.
For a bagless vacuum, empty the canister frequently after each time usage. For deep cleaning: unplug the vacuum cleaner before cleaning the canister. You can use a dry microfiber cloth to wipe inside of the canister, then wash it with warm soap water, rinse and dry before putting it in place to use.
4. Check the filter:
Depending on each type of vacuum cleaner you own, the filter is washable or needs to be replaced (check the manufacturer’s instructions). If it is washable, first remove it and tap it against a hard surface to get out of dust left behind. Then rinse the filter with warm water, make sure it is completely dry (at least overnight or 24 hours) before putting it back into the vacuum cleaner to use.
5. Clean the roll-brush
Remove all the hairs, pet hairs and threads out of the roll-brush by using a scissor to cut carefully (not pull), avoid cutting the bristles. After that, if there are no electrical elements in your brush head, clean it in warm water and remove any embedded dust. Again, make sure it dry thoroughly before refitting it on the machine.
The crevice tools and other attachments such as upholstery tools, mattress tools, pet grooming tools, extension wand…also need to be checked whether any blockages are stuck inside the tools.
Last but not least, here are some important notes to clean vacuum machine:
· Remember to unplug the machine before cleaning.
· Wear gloves to protect your hand during cleaning process.
· Except for some filters only used in 6 - 12 months, there are other reusable one that only need to be cleaned frequently. Even the Best Rated Vacuum Cleaners also need to be maintained frequently.
In conclusion, whether you own the best vacuum cleaner in the market or not, it needs to be cleaned and maintained regularly to maintain the good condition to use. With the simple and basic steps above, I hope you find the best way to clean your vacuum machine properly.
