The number suggests 1887, but see

Thank you for the prompt reply. Does the serial number give an accurate indication of age?
This is an interesting piano. It has a plaque on it dated 1886 and says it was made for Abb? Liszt. The known history makes this quite possible. It was acquired by the American Accademy in Rome in 1920 from a lady who was an aquaintance of his. She lived about a mile from the Vatican where Liszt spent a lot of time as he became a priest. It appears (if your date is correct) as if the piano was bought the year he died.
Do you think somebody has some original papers from the Erard company indicating the name of the purchaser of the piano?
Thank you for your help.

The question of accuracy was covered by the link I gave you. As to this specific piano, I am dealing with this for the owners, who want to sell it, and the claim seems quite reasonable, but impossible to prove so far, since no original archives are available. See
