Wish to know more about my piano

Post by Sho »

I own a W.H.Paling Victor piano with serial 20154 which I believe is 1908 it’s in amazing condition for its age and it has the door thing in the middle front and it has a folding fall that goes backwards into it aswell it says it’s made in USA but I’m in Australia so I’m just wondering if there’s any more info I can get on the paling pianos and maybe the victor patent ones? As I can’t find any other palings as old as this one closest I’ve found is a serial in 21300s it hasn’t been tuned in quite a few years yet it’s not that out of tune in the first place also my grandparents had a piano with no visible branding that I could find I think it faded off as my paling is starting to aswell but when we called a guy to tune it he says it was the oldest piano he has ever seen but he wasn’t able to tune it he said the pins wouldn’t hold the tune as they were put into wood? Like the the piano didn’t have that gold look on the inside on the bridges I looked inside and it had a serial of like 1623 or something like that I myself am interested in it it had proper ivory keys not sure if there’s any info of pianos that old I tried researching but honestly I don’t know what to search

Regarding the Palings piano, it seems that it was made in USA and sold by Palings, so the number would not follow Palings' published dates. I can't tell you anything just from a number, can you post photos here to show what it looks like?
As for the old piano, have a look at
