Hopkinson Piano # 73207

Post by Iain McGregor »

My parents bought the piano from, I think, Chappell's of Worthing sometime in the late 1950's. I've often wondered about its age and whether the company of J&J Hopkinson of London was considered good, bad or indifferent in its piano-making reputation. The serial number is 73207 - I suspect the piano is post-first war, looking at the style of it and would be delighted if anyone could help date it for me, and tell me a little about the reputation of the maker.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

The number suggests 1921. Hopkinson is usually regarded as one of the better commercial makers, not a top quality, but a good reputation, and great innovators. I can quote for printing general information on the firm through the PianoGen website. See also
