Eavestaff art-deco green and chrome piano

Post by beckyloubobs »

Hello! I'm new to this, so go gentle with me  When my Grandmother died 15 years ago I was given her piano which, I'm sorry to say, has gathered dust since. I've hung onto it for sentimental reasons, but now feel it should go to someone who'd play it. Therein my dilemma - at the moment I'm thinking of donating it to the local cubs or an old people's home, but just want some reassurance that it's not valuable before I do this. I appreciate it's hard to value pianos (have read the notice) but the ballpark would do. As i said above it's an Eavestaff pianette, dark green in colour with a chrome trim, and an art-deco style to it. It was much-loved when i was a child, and needs some restoration. Thanks in advance x

There is some sales value in the small size, but many of these old minis are now of an age where they do not hold in tune, and it is impossible to guess about such things without the report of a tuner on the spot. The ones with tuning pins under the keyboard can be 70 years old, and "some restoration" can be an understatement. If you are in East Anglia, I could look at it.

Thanks for the prompt reply! Guess i was a bit vague about its condition - it's workings are still fine but the stool needs a new leather top, and it has a few chips in the paint where my young feet kicked it. Unfortunately I'm in Newcastle - have you any recommendations for someone to have a look at it up here?
