John Brinsmead & Sons age
Post by Trudineill »
Hi there
I have a piano I'm interested in its age. It's an upright John Brinsmead and sons with a serial number of A 82116.
If you can help with any information I would be most grateful. Thank you.

The majority of pianos cannot be reliably dated just on the basis of numbers, and one of the reasons for this is that most pianos have several numbers inside. 82116 may suggest 1925, but Brinsmead serial numbers are not preceded by a letter, so this is probably a retailer's stock number for a firm whose name begins with A, and it doesn't help us.
If you can't find any other numbers, and you want to search inside the piano for clues, have a look at

If you can post photos here to show what the whole piano looks like, or email them to me to post, I may be able to tell you more. There is useful general information about uprights at
