We've imported a Chappell Upright piano circa 1896 into the United States from the UK and it's stuck in customs.
US Fish & Wildlife has declined it due to belief keys are Ivory. They've requested documentation of age(Serial Number), genus of Ivory, and species. If we can't provide this, then they are requiring us to ship in back to the UK.
An alternative we are proposing is removal of keys or key covers if Ivory and determined to be of African origin. Any advise or guidance on the ease or difficulty of doing this?
Furthermore, any guidance on Ivory and piano being 100 years plus in age and ability to import into the US?
Thank you.
