Don't know if this is the right forum but nothing else seemed appropriate.

I play alto sax, I'm an amateur, I'm wanting to start a small jazz group, I think I can find a bassist and drummer but a pianist is proving harder to find.

To give you an idea what I want to play, my favourite album is John Coltrane's "Ballads" album. Nothing like his usual "sheets of sound" stuff.

Initially I just want to play with others for pleasure, I'd also like to record what we play, not for commercial purposes but just to create something a bit more permanent. And maybe we will do a couple of gigs in future, but I'm not in a hurry to do that.

I'm in Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear, and I would plan to rehearse at the Globe Jazz Coop in Newcastle (where there is a piano).
