Mr & Mrs Calcott wrote to me about their Brandes piano, which also looks as if it might be 1850-ish, but I have so far been unable to trace any information about the firm. As in yours, the partly-french wording suggests that perhaps it was originally exported from Germany to France. "H.W.Brandes, Hamburgo - Fabricante de pianos. Patent Repeater - Warranted."...
