C E Little Piano

Post by R »

Hi,

I have a CE Little/Hackney piano #11890. I am trying to decide if it is worth fixing up or should it be scrapped? It needs work. 1 hammer broken off, 3 other keys with a broken wooden internal part - These 4 keys do not produce sound. 3-4 other keys which produce sound but stick. Rest of keys work fine, some chipped ivories. Needs tuning and key repair. Probably has cracked sound board (piano was in Florida for much of it's life). And grimy interior strings.

Exterior - slightly warped top, also top has some cosmetic blistering. 1 back caster missing along with some wood on the side. 1 chip off of wood veneer. Other than that wood is in beautiful shape. Has 2 brass candleabra holders.

F. W. Muskett, 148. MAGDELEN GATES. NORWICH sticker inside.

This piano has no sentimental value to us. We are justing looking for a decent practice piano for the family. Any info on piano, it's history, and suggestions as to repair or move on question would be appreciated.

Thank You, R

In my experience, any note faults must be regarded as the tip of the iceberg, there will be many more as yet undiscovered, so you need to get it looked at by a tuner-technician. I can help you with historical information on Muskett and Little, but no-one the other side of the world can advise you about the piano. Incidentally, Muskett was a fairly local firm to me, Norwich is not far from me.

I am in touch with a technician, going to have him out here to look at the piano as soon as possible.

I would be interested in more info. on Little, Muskett, piano id#. How do I go about obtaining this?

Thank You, R
