Help! How old is this Yamaha U1?

Anyone can tell me how old is this Yamaha U1? The serial number is YRP 721467. Thanks.

Yamaha numbers are getting very complex if the piano was made in Japan then the number 721467 would be c1967 However, what puts a spanner in the works is all the production plants have there own numbers and change them, the prefix letters normally tell you where that was take the UK in

1986 = 1983 yet in 1990 it was E235000 The prefix numbers we know of are E for UK U for Everet Factory USA and T for the Thomaston factory you can contact Yamaha but if it is a grey market piano all the will tell you is the pianos was not made for that country

Thanks for the reply Barrie. I live in Hong Kong at the moment and yes the piano is made in Japan. Do you know what is the current serial number is up to now for made in Japan Yamaha U1? I am looking to buy one but would want the one that less than 5 years old, however I have no idea how to check if the serial number on the piano is quite current and not like 30 odds years old already. Thanks.

I did a new Yamaha today SU131S s/n 60778673

They are made in Japan
