Berry upright piano
Post by alan butterfill »
I have a Berry upright piano, it works fine but somebody painted it white before I got it in a gift, it has an iron frame, the serial number is 31121 on top of the left side panel under the lid, and the label on the iron frame on the right hand side states that it is fitted with Berrys' new improved girder bars. Apart from wanting to know the age, could you tell me if any pianos made by Berry are likely to be collectors items.

I worked for Berrys in the sixties, they were the largest piano retail group in London. Over the years, I have tuned many Berry pianos, and I can't imagine them as collector's pieces, although some people are interested in the Art Deco models.
The number suggests that it was made in 1933.
