Hi. I have a E Krauss Piano. I have it for almost 32 years now. I cant find any history of it on the internet / Google.

Could you please tell me how old it is, and what is its value?

It is a black right up one.

Serial no 9646

Very little is known, and we have no serial number dates available. E. Krauss (with this spelling) was based in Stuttgart, and I would guess that your piano was made around 1904.

If you are confident about removing the action, it may be marked on the rear with the action makers' name and number, and I may be able to date this. Otherwise, ask your tuner.

Nobody can guess the value or condition without inspecting it, and tuning it. It is fair to add that the name has no value whatsoever when compared to something like a Bechstein. Ordinary unrestored run-of-the-mill pianos of this age have very little value here in Britain, as you can read at

There are a few serial numbers in Pierce, but not sure if they are correct.
Established in 1870

Serial numbers leading up to the above piano >>>

1894 #5000
1900 #9750

So this suggests just prior to 1900.

I have seen numbers for E. Krause, but not for this one. Mind you, if it is based on Michel's spelling, anything is possible!

They would make it about 1899.
