Welmar upright

Hello. I am new to this forum. I have just been given a WELMAR upright with the serial number 72222. I know this means it was built in 1972, but does anyone know of any way of finding out more detail about its provenance, manufacture, retail supplier, quality of build, action, sound etc? Is there an archive that contains Whelpdale's records of instruments built and sold? I would be grateful for any information. Thank you.

I am not aware of any archives, I guess some of the people are around somewhere, but there is no way of looking up the retailer.
