Metzler Piano

Post by MrsSmith213 »

Hello! I am looking into buying a Metzler Baby Grand Piano. The number on the inside of the piano is M24122. Is there any way that I can get information about this piano? I was told that it was bought in London and only had one owner. Thank you for any help you can give!!

Assuming that this is not Metzler, Berlin, the London Metzler firm began in the early 1800s, but if you have a "Metzler" from the 1900s, it is more likely to be a Cramer, as you can read at
http://pianogen.org/names.html

The serial number would not normally be preceded by M, this suggests a dealer's stock number. It might be from Morleys or some other M.

Baby grands of the 1900s are almost impossible to date by appearance, as you can read at

Can you post photos of the whole piano, or email to me to post?
