R.Görs & Kallmann

Post by heyvinds »

I have an R.Görs & Kallmann piano, that has been in the family for decades.

I wanted to know if you could give me some history on it and even an approximate incurance value.

The piano has the following markings on the outside. R.Görs & Kallmann, Hoflieferanten Sr. Maj.d.kaisers u. Königs. It also has has a Poul Andersen & Co signing.

The Serialnumbers that I can find inside the piano are "58882" and then "M5987"

With regards,

The number 58882 suggests that it was made in 1919, the one preceded by M is a retailer's stock number, perhaps Morleys. No history of G&K individual pianos is available. Nobody can tell you the value of a piano they haven't inspected and tuned. The top door (top front panel) has been replaced by a flat board, and the sconces (candle-holders) may not be original. The polish would have been very dark. I am guessing that Poul Andersen is another retailer, not English.
