R.Goetze upright piano

Post by candyglass »

Hi i have inherited an upright cast iron frame piano. the sign underneath the lid says R. Goetze. I can not find a serial number any where or any other information on it. i have searched the internet but can not find any detailed information on this make. i know it has been in my family for at least 85-90 years, but my Gran does not remember anything else about when they got it. It was brought in Kirkby in ashfield in Nottingham.

Im just looking for some background on it. it will be staying in my family so that i can teach my children it as i was taught.

Big Thank you in advance

Serial numbers will not help. There were at least 7 different piano firms named Goetze, and although R. Goetze was around in 1926, I have no details about him. Ask your tuner to check if the action is marked with the action makers' name and number, I may be able to date this.
