second hand piano for son

Post by janderas »

Hi

I want to buy a second hand piano for my 8 year old sone who is learning to play - apparently he is quite good and very keen so think he will keep playing. I want to buy him a piano (currently learning on a keyboard which is not good for him) but have limited funds but on the other hand don't want to have to buy him a better one as he improves - it needs to last the distance. I have seen a second hand Betley whcih looks nice for £275 -is this just too cheap for a decent piano??? Help

Get a tuner to check the Bentley over; it might cost you 20 quid, but then again, it might save you 275 quid!
I play for my own amazement... :piano;

As a tuner and dealer I've countless times been called to a totally duff piano and the customer says "it only cost £200!" Only.
Why not put that sum towards a better one at a reputable piano dealer who will allow you the full price if you subsequently upgrade.
If he doesn't offer that sort of deal then go to the next shop.

Any fool can make a piano-- it needs a tuner to put the music in it

Find a reputable dealer by asking around for someone who has had a good deal with proper after sales service and a smile.
