I didn't catch much of that I'm afraid - things are a bit fraught this end! I was given a jigsaw for Christmas that spells out Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerchllantysiliogogogoch (or something like that) when you put it together. And we had Welsh crackers and the jokes were singularly unamusing...Nadolig llawen, bach!

Siop Siarad pob wythnos...wel, dyna mwy o gyfle i ymarfer Cymraeg na'r fath beth dwi'n ei gael yma yn y rhan yma o Loegr! Ond y fis diwethaf, roeddwn i'n cerdded ar draws Sgwar Canmlwyddiant yng nghanol dinas Brym a chlywais i fachgen yn siarad ar ei ffon symudol....yn GYMRAEG! Ac efo acen y Gogledd hefyd! Roedd rhaid i mi ddechrau sgwrs a fo a chynnig croeso cynnes i'r ail ddinas! Roedd rhyw gystadleuaeth band pres yn Neuadd Simffoni ac roedd e'n rhan o fand oedd yn dod o Gaerdydd, ond mae yn wreiddiol o Ddeiniolen, yn esbonio am yr acen!

GEIRFA:

Sgwar Canmlwyddiant = Centenary Square (un o sgwaroedd mawr cyhoeddus Brym, lleoliad y Llyfrgell newydd sbon!)
ffon symudol = mobile phone, cellphone
acen = accent
ail ddinas = second city, Birmingham wrth gwrs!
band pres = brass band
Neuadd Simffoni = Symphony Hall, yn Sgwar Canmlwyddiant
yn esbonio = explaining

DU=UK. (Y Deyrnas Unedig)

'Swearing in Welsh has been allowed on the UK Piano Page, etc, etc, @rse, drink, girls, @rse again' you get the picture!

I never trust online translators. Probably because when I learned Welsh they didn't exist and we had to use the dictionary and/or logical deduction.

'Ynfytyn' isn't in my dic as well, I've had a look (mine's the Oxford Pocket Modern Welsh Dictionary). Only twpsyn. I've heard the word in pop songs by Datblygu ('Ffansin Ynfytyn') and Tynal Tywyll ('...ac ar fy enaid! Mae'n amlwg, ynfytyn y bydda i un'). However I had a chance look on geiriadur, and it's on there:

http://www.geiriadur.net/index.php?page ... part=exact

I never thought of the word as a fool or a maniac as well as an eejit! Ffwl or ffwlcyn maybe. I've come across both.
