Any good gigs on remembrance Sunday then Gill? (or 'Dydd Sul Y Cofio'). Vicar will expect you to abandon traditional hymns and go for something more 'poppy'.

And I've just realised, all these scares with Sophie has made me miss the Toby Boalch gig at the UofB music faculty I've been eagerly anticipating. I shall make a special effort to attend the Alcyona Mick one next month.

I am OFF this Sunday so will just be in the choir at chapel bellowing out all the usuals...well, wheezing. My bellowing days are over!
I hope Sophie keeps improving, bless her...just keep Sarah Jane under control!

Good girl, Sophie Anne!!

Her stomach is much better now and she seems happier. She's had some nice tasty mackerel and ate every last morsel I gave her.

Is that the same chapel where you play the organ by any chance??

Sophie actually did something this morning she hasn't done for over a week, climb the stairs at 5.30am and start meowing for food!! And she didn't hesitate in eating her breakfast either, so she must be feeling better. It's certainly a marked improvement on how she was yesterday (Friday).

Isn't she lovely? So glad she's feeling better now...you must be relieved. And she literally is...
My friend from Welsh has just adopted an enormous black cat who was already called Prince so he's known as Y Twysog Du Fawr. Or is it Mawr? Anyway, he's The Black Prince now.

It would be Mawr as Tywysog (prince) is masculine and Du consequentially has no mutation so neither would Mawr. Y Tywysog Du Mawr.......or if she was female, 'Y Dywysoges Ddu Fawr'. However female cats are known as queens, not princesses!

Have to post a photo of Sarah Janeycakes.

Most piano teachers worth their salt (round here anyway) have long waiting lists.
Sarah Jane is beautiful! But she has That Look which makes me unsurprised that she batted Sophie...

To change the subject, do you have unlimited broadband Gill (and Feg)?

Hello Feg. I have had limited data (5Gb) since 2005 but now it's not enough. My normal bill was £15.99 but in October it was just over £30 because my allowance ran out about eight days prior to my reset day. (unknown to me) I believe I'm being ripped off, however I've found out I'm out of contract with my current provider. I've been doing a lot of shopping around, and am keen to have net phone and TV from the same provider.

Not good for having piano lessons via Skype, amongst other things. And BBC iPlayer. Gareth Malone was on In Tune the other day and I missed it.

I think so. I use Supanet and it's about a tenner a month I think. Sorry to be vague but I am not in the slightest technological!

Me neither. There's a part of me that wants to sell my CDs and CD player and just buy a Grundig or Pye stereophonic radiogram c.1965 and a load of vinyl from our shop. I've tried BT and their packages are quite good. But Teresa wants to keep all her TV channels so my next stop will be Virgin. My next door neighbour has just had Virgin phone installed plus a Tivo box and he's quite happy.

Oddly enough, S4C is one of our channels and I never get a chance to watch it, plus no programmes are ever on Catchup. I'd love to sit down with a nice 'paned o de' one evening and watch Dechrau Canu, Dechrau Canmol if it's still on these days.

DCDC is still on, yes. You should catch up with Pobol Y Cwm; astyonishing that so many crises/murders/accidents/addictions/character disorders/pregnancies can occur in one little village...

I get TV, phone and internet from Virgin. Their broadband is unlimited and I have a great fixed fee phone package.

I'm looking at Virgin for all 3 as well, Fiona. We have TV from them but nothing else (£32 for XL pack), then £23 for BT unlimited UK calls anytime, and £16 to 3 for Internet, but as I say only 5Gb per month and very slow through a dongle we've had since 2005. Total £71. I've been quoted 30mb unlimited net, plus unlimited anytime calls and the same TV package for £69, or faster net but only free weekend calls for £64, including same TV channels.

Do you have to pay anything to BT even with a Virgin phone, any rental charge to use their network even for a Virgin phone???

No, you don't pay anything to BT at all. I pay them £63 per month for TV XL, Phone XL and Broadband 60Mb download speed and unlimited data. Mind you, we've been with them for years and I think we get some sort of discount.

That's very good, Your original contract may not have been as good as that though. But loyalty pays. My original deal with 3 was for 3Gb of data for £15 then they offered me a new contract for 5Gb for the same price, which has only increased with inflation once. Either way, £71 overall is way too much to pay for a deal that includes limited broadband, which is a little bit old fashioned nowadays.

We made a massive saving ditching Sky Sports (my wife is apparently quite keen on this footballing malarkey), twenty six pounds if my memory serves me well, which now goes on food.

I saw a picture of the village of Fingest, Bucks on a 2014 calendar of pictures of quintessentially British villages today but the church where Gill sometimes plays the organ was nowhere to be seen

Really? They usually include it as it's more or less the centre of the village!

I have yet more good news to share with the world. Today I fitted a set of loft ladders, re-hinged and re-aligned the trapdoor (so it opens outwards) and fitted a new catch. And I did not swear, cuss or get angry once. I'm quite pleased with myself.

I've got to sort out some roof leaks and some wet patches under the roof trusses on the inside that's causing some mould growth on the ceiling in the bathroom and rear bedroom, and then damp seal it all over (Gloss paint's usually quite good for that). Better than doing leg exercises at keep fit, though I could do with some wooden boards to crawl along so I don't put my foot in it.....

Use Jeyes Fluid in the bathroom to deter the mould. I'm married to a builder! :)

I always use bleach but it works for a time and then it comes back whenever we get some cold weather. I never thought of using Jeyes, it's quite cheap in the pound shop (£1 usually, or 99p in the 99p store as the case may be), so thanks for the tip, Gill (and Eric).

Eric always uses Jeyes for mould suppression. Except in our own bathroom because it might make my lungs fall out...:D

You could get high on the smell of Jeyes Fluid. If only Henry Cooper had discovered it before Brut. Which reminds me, do you remember the Christmas Brut 33 on the 25th advert on TV?? Three celebs of the day, Cooper, Keegan, and some other bloke playing the piano....don't suppose you know who the piano playing celebrity (assumed sportsman - and not James Toseland, before his time)?

No, I don't remember that one...is it on Youtube? I actually quite liked the smell of Brut, but now U have no sense of smell. Perhaps the two statements are related...
