Whitfields

Post by Bill Kibby »

By 1899, they were still known as Whitfield, Johnson & Co., so your piano is presumably after that. See

Garret & Feord

Post by Bill Kibby »

Does it actually say "Garret & Feord"? Some pianos say "Garret Feord", but directories tend to put surnames first, and list "Feord Garret" from the 1890s to at least the 1930s. They shared a factory address with Monington & Weston, so may be just an alias for that firm. Whitfields were dealers. Your piano would be after 1899, see

Garret Feord

So it's not "Garret & Feord"? It appears that Monington & Weston's factory produced it under the name Garret Feord, and it was sold by Whitfields.

No it just says garret feord on the lid, When would you say they stopped producing these? Im wanting to know roughly how old the piano is and how much it would have been to buy when it was new

No original archives are available, see

Any clues to date are inside the piano, see
