Bluthner sustaining power

Post by Openwood »

We have a new Bluthner Model 4 grand in our school hall. A few players have commented on a lack of sustaining power and a weakish bass. I like the instrument though when I use it for choir accompaniment I often find myself having to 'play up' even with the lid open.

I'd be interested to hear of your experiences of new Bluthner grands. Maybe I should have gone for a Yamaha in terms of versatility?

Bluthners are quite powerful the model 4 is 6’ 10 and should fill the room with no problems has the tuner from Blutherns been out to it yet. did you pick the piano in the showrooms at Bluthners

The tuner is due to come shortly so I will raise these questions with him. It would be interesting to see if the bass can be 'opened up' some.

Thank you for the reply.
