Buying New Piano This Week
Post by Bilbo Baggins »
After following this forum, trying second hand pianos and looking through endless Pianos for Sale adverts I have decided to purchase a new piano ( unless convinced before Thursday!).
Problems I have found are not many recent pianos for sale privately (or locally!)and dealers/shops wanting too much for 20 year old pianos.
I have budget of say Ł3500-00 and would like to try to keep some UK manufacturing input if possible (comments please). With this I can buy Yamaha U1 or UK made Yamaha Equivalent. Think the Kembles are slightly more for the same mechanism but open to offers!
Will have to go for best price but note taken as to "may not be well set up". Hopefully bigger job for local tuner when in situ.
I will have to travel as no shops in this area with any range.
Any advice or offers?
Many thanks for a wonderful forum.

Yamahas and Kembles are both made in the UK so you'd be safe with a new one...there are some imported Yamahas for sale second hand, but not new. At least, I don't think so - someone will soon put me right if I'm wrong!
Get as large a piano as you have room for; height = tone.
