Weber Square Grand Piano
I have just purchased a house that came with a Rosewood Weber Square Grand piano thrown in.
The serial number inside is 1573
The front says Weber New York London
All seems to work well but out of tune. All keys are intact and all strike well. Woodwork is beautiful but some sun bleaching of the back.
Can anyone tell me more about this serial number and is it worth getting tuned. If not it would make a nice work table or a craps table.

This particular Weber seems to have been established in 1852, and the published numbers begin at #1900 in 1860, so this suggests that the piano is from the 1850s. No-one can comment further on its condition or viability without seeing it.

Weber Square Grand
Thanks for the reply. I am amazed if it was from the 1850s that all the keys seem to work and the felts seem OK. Is this possible? I have no expertise in pianos however.
Do you have anyone in the Reno Tahoe area that you could recommend that I have come and look at it?

Sorry, I have no contacts of that kind. It is certainly possible for a piano from the 1850s to be in working order, but there is no guarantee that the date is correct. See
