William Squire Upright

Post by jodiju »

Hey guys, awesome site. I've recently acquired a William Squire upright, and I'm having some trouble dating it. I found a serial, 10 644, stamped on it, but can't find any real info out there.

Can anyone help a newbie out?

Is there an address on it? No dates of serial numbers are available, and the business existed from at least 1840 to the first world war. If you have logged in, you can email me, otherwise, have a look at

I can't find one, where is it likely to be? Also, it's out of tune and I have no experience of tuning a piano so if there's anyone in or around Leeds who could tune it in exchange for some recording time in my (modest) studio get in touch.

I was just hoping there might be an address under the name. Good luck with your plea, I doubt if many Leeds piano tuners are queueing up to swap for studio time, and home recording is so easy now.
