Holling Spangenberg 1884
I have an Holling Spangenberg upright from 84( I checked this sites serial number calculator and also made my way to the holling website to check their list too).
there's a ton of medals inside like one of the others that someone has described on this site.
the years range from 1861,65,67,70,75,1882.
is it important what the medlas say , or just the dates are important?
I'm not actually interested in selling it at this time, but I'd like to know how much it's worth.
I've seen them being sold from anywhere between 3000 dollars to 20,000 euros.
obviously I'm confused.
thanks
Tom

I am interested to know the year and origin of every one, but from a practical point of view, the most useful thing for you is that the piano was made after the 1882 exhibition, if that's the latest one shown. I wish I knew if there was one after 1882. See

As for valuation, start at the top of the forum page. I suspect that you haven't seen them "sold", you've seen them advertised.

valuation
Ya, not "sold" but being sold (theoretically).
The cause of my letter was not to ask anyone to apraise this specific piano, but rather to clue me in as to what that general age of a holling is worth (according to their appearance/mechanical condition etc) to those who are generally interested in them; as well as help me to be able to affirm it's age.
I'll take some more time looking at the medals later today.
thank you for your time .

There are very few names which create interest at auctions, sadly, this is not one of them, so its value depends largely upon the tuner's report on its general state. I would appreciate any details of the medals.

medals
The little information on the medals that I had , are stored on my "palm pilot" and I've found myself separated from it's power supply for now (it's battery is dead).
this is as much as I can remember.
there are at least 7 medals which are overlapping circles, but a number of single circles.
one of the 7 says something about "wilhelm kronprinz von pheussen" (it's the one with some larger print so I could make it out better than the others).
I was mistaken, the latest medal is 81, not 82.
I checked it out again today because I was unsure about the font used. I had thought maybe it was a peculiarly shaped # 2 rather than a #1.
up till now I've been using a flashlight and some bifocals.
tomorrow when I look I'll bring a proper magnifying glass so I can make everything out.
thanks again for your help.
Tom.
