Yamaha Serial Number Prefixes.
Post by Gill the Piano »
I know this has been discussed before, but I can't find the relevant thread; can someone tell me (again... )what countries the various letter prefixes on Yammy serial numbers represent? Ta!
Hi Gill!
U= USA Michigan
E= UK
C= China
J= Indonesia
T= USA Georgia
No prefix is Japan
Don't be confused by the occasional series prefix J on a G-series grand. The only grands from the Indonesian factory are post 2000 model GA1 and GB1s. The small uprights, the like of the C109 and C113 are also Indonesian.

Cheers, chicken! It's just that I tuned a U1 with an M prefix the other day - not a prefix I remember seeing before - and wondered about it. And from the looks of it, I'll have to keep wondering!
