loosening screws!

Hello!

I have a Lester 1915 upright piano. I have all the internal components completely restored. The only problem is, the screws that hold the hammer flanges securely become loose in a week's time. Sometimes to the point of the key not working. What could be causing this? Its getting redundant tightening all the screws every week.

would the screws you refer to be the ones that hold the flange to the rail, or, be a small screw holding the centre pin (which runs through the flange) to the butt of the hammer.? (butt plates)

Hello!

yes, it is the screws that attach the flange to the rail. Nope, no saunas around LOL. The hammers have just been re-surfaced, maybe that is the problem?? The temperature in the house has fluctuated quiet a bit as my air conditioner broke down and has been repaired.

I should add something. The problem started before the air conditioning went out. The temperature changes certainly did exaggerate the problem.

If it is the AC then it should stabilise However, I came across a similar problem and it was the beam rail splitting retightening screws just opens the split so I would look at the rail
