Hoflieferant Piano

Post by mzh4 »

I purchased a piano that I really don't know anything about other than it is a German overstrung piano. The name on the piano is Hoflieferant with the serial no. 39585. I can't seem to find any information on the Internet on this type of piano. Please advise.Thank you.

Hoflieferant is not a maker's name, it is a german word which appears on several different makes of piano, implying that they were supplied to the royal court. Of course, anything german-sounding might well be used as an alias on an old piano. See

piano information

Post by mzh4 »

HI Bill,
I looked closer at my piano and found out it is a August Forster piano. when I put the serial number in #39585 ---the information said it was made between 1911-1917. Does this sound right? It is good cosmetic condition except for a few knicks. Can you give me a ballpark $ on what this would sell for.
Many thanks for your help and expertise
