George Rogers Baby Grand ?

Post by Old Merc »

Hi All,
We have a Rogers baby grand in need of a resto.

I`m having difficulty finding the year of manufacture etc, the number stencilled on the frame does not add up with the info I get on the net.

Can anyone please give me the year of manufacture and any information about this piano.
Thank you all in advance

Gorgeous case. The number isn't the piano's serial number. If it were the piano would have been made before 1873 which clearly it was not.

I`ve searched all over the thing. Where is the serial number located?

It is usually on the horizontal part of the frame that covers the wrest plank, in other words near the tuning pins. You would have seen it if it were there. Are there any numbers stamped into the beams underneath the soundboard? In 1920 Rogers numbers had reached 30,000 and in 1930 40500.

Rogers usually stamped their serial numbers into the top treble end of the soundboard - no guarantees though! Your piano appears to be a model from around 1920, so serial number should be around 30000....
