B Squire with serial number
Post by Scottish-Piano »
Hi, I just want to know the age of a piano that I acquired this week. Just out of interest..
Pinboard is made of metal and has on it
B. Squire & Son (right hand corner)
3 04 85 (stamped left hand corner)
The only other marking is on the inside of the lid under the music sheet rest.
Harcourt
London
I hope somebody will know. Thank you

Probably built sometime around the first world war. It would have been modernised during the late 50s - 60's. Modernising the casework of the piano involved removing any original character the piano would have had, and making it look as plain as was humanly possible!
