What is the lettering made of?

I'm wondering whether or not these letters are in brass or are actually stuck/stencilled on?

It can be both; some makers use brass inserts, others use stencils, and some use both depending on the quality of the piano.

Thanks for your prompt reply.
I now know the lettering was stencilled on at the factory, as some of it came off with the masking tape I was using at the time!
