British made, a Serial Number and not much else...
Hello from Australia.
I am hoping to get some help in identifying the manufacturer and model of a piano we have had in the family since the late 1950's / early 1960's.
This is my piano. It was originally purchased by my grandmother in Sydney, Australia secondhand. I don't know much else about it. There are relatively few identifying markings internally. There is no manufacturer plate or stamp, however, the piano has been cosmetically restored by my mother at least once (a plate may have been removed from the front and not reattached).
On the bottom right of the soundboard is the following: Located on the top left of the soundboard is what I believe to be the serial number (87239). This is also "stamped" a little lower on the soundboard here: There is also a number stamped on the 1st, 2nd, 87th and 88th keys. The number is the same and is 69554. My initial investigations led me to believe it may have been manufactured by Kemble in 1952, mostly based on the serial number and the look, but I haven't been able to find any supporting images. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
