My forebears arrived here in New Zealand as assisted immigrants on the sailing ship the Forfarshire, in 1873.
They were a very musical family and amongst other things brought with them a Newman & Co cottage piano. The piano is still in our family and I would be interested to hear from anyone who may have any background on NewMan & Co and especially their cottage pianos.
Inside the piano there are some hand written numbers that are quite hard to read," ??126 No 108 ". I can send photos.
On a completely different subject, I am in the final stages of restoring a 1901 Whilcox and White "Symphony" player (American) reed organ. I would love to hear from anyone who may have experience with setting up the player roll alignment for these organs.
Kind regards
Alan Bower
