Weber New York, upright piano

Post by Kentavos »

Bill I hope you can help me. I was recently given an upright piano for my kids to learn on. The more I looked at it, the more I became intrigued by it's history and age. I've tried finding resources online about Weber, but there isn't a lot out there and Weber's website is gone.

To me it looks like it's from the early 1900's, but I'm just making wild guesses. The keys look like ivory and there is a small tag on the inside upper left hand of the ?cabinet? (the top part) that I think is the serial number. It's 49745.

I'm thinking about having it restored and I would like to know as much about it as possible.

The number 49745 would indicate a date of 1900 in 1903 the Weber company merged with Aeolian in 1986 the name Weber was use by Young Chang

As to recondition the piano these days the cost is normally more than a new one well it is in the UK I would get a few Tuners to look at it first before spending any money on it

Barry thanks for the information and the advice. I'll definitely get a tuner to look at it first.
