Steck Pianola age

Hello thanks for the add. I have a question about a piano that was gifted to me. It says Steck Pianola Piano and on the inside of the lid where the keys are at James Smith and son Liverpool. The number in side that I assumed was the serial number is 49831. When looking this number up online it doesn't match anything. Tried several times to upload pictures and I'll keep working on it. Thank you.

refers specifically to problems with Steck numbers, and there is no simple answer to this, unless there are any datemarks inside the piano.
My own Steck Pianola has this problem, and although some lists suggest that it is 1914, I suspect it is from the twenties.
I'm sorry I don't have any control over the picture downloading on this website, but it is unlikely that photos will help with dating a pianola, but if you want to email them to me, I will try to post them for you.

I have a Steck with the number 51651 on it - Im curious as to it's age!

I can only refer you to the comments I made above. If anyone simply quotes a date for a Steck number, it is not reliable.
