Bluthner upright piano move

Hi,

I recently committed to buy a wonderful Bluthner upright. It was fairly inexpensive but to me it sounds great.

However, now the hard bit, finding out who can move it from Edinburgh to Leeds with flights of stairs involved at the pickup address (3rd floor apartment).

Can anyone recommend a company that does nationwide piano removal and perhaps makes regular trips to/from Edinburgh so the cost can be split? I am a little concerned the delivery will end up almost as much as the piano itself cost. I can get quotes from companies I know but without having done it before I am not sure which companies cover wider areas, so have had a few responses so far stating that they cover only locally and cannot quote competitively.

I hope it is acceptable to ask such questions on the forum - without the knowledge of which companies can actually do the above I really feel I need some input from those in the know.

You could telephone Yorkshire Pianos and ask for contact details of the company they use, or if you browse the Yorkshire piano website, I think they mention the moving company on one of their pages (it may be the Cavendish piano page).

you need a big shipper who ships up and down the UK and has the kit for stairs

They are based in Edinburgh and regularly travel the length of the UK.

Thanks both, I've now received quotes from the above and looks like it is going to be rather expensive (perhaps unsurprisingly)

I do like the piano... the reasonable price of it offsets the courier cost somewhat, but it means it's no longer great value just an OK price altogether. Decision time!

it will be the stairs if you did it by emails try ringing and ask if they will consider it as a job at there convenience may take a tad longer to get it.
