Muller-Schiedmayer upright hybrid

I have a Muller-Schiedmayer upright hybrid i.e. top can be opened up on a support like a grand. Music rest is a completely detachable stand similar in size and shape to grand music rest but in this case hooks over halfopen lid. Serial number 5965. A very simple elegant design with no lavish ornementation. Plays like a dream. On buying the preowned instrument in early 1980's was informed that it had been commissioned as a gift by a wealthy businessman, but this ofcourse cannot be verified. However have seen no other like it and am curious to find out more. Has anyone come accross something similar?

It sounds like the 1950s trend towards making upright pianos resemble grands, but only in a very superficial way. Hybrid is perhaps too strong a word for those.
