Holland Piano Age?
I have a Holland Cabinet Grand piano from the Holland Piano Manufacturing Company (Chicago ~ Minneapolis). It has a marking on the inside that says it's an upright concert grand and the serial # is 20182. There is a price emblem showing the price as $350.
I can't find much about Holland Pianos. The thing I find odd is that what I can find points to Holland Piano Mfr Co being in Menomonie and Minneapolis. Nothing about Chicago.
Thanks.

Roxanne,
Thank you for your post.
If the serial number is correct (and not a casework/ cabinet number), it suggests the date of manufacture is 1914.
In your own wording and in the text, there seems to be confliction between the type of piano you have.
Is it an (1) upright, (2) grand (3)cabinet piano.... or (4) Concert grand piano? ......
can't be more than one name or combination of other names. Seems too late for a cabinet piano.
To establish it correct "type" name, please post here a photo of the whole piano if you are unsure.
The company was established in 1913, and last figures recorded in 1927, making around 47K pianos.
No mention of Chicago, so might be a name picked up or used.

Unfortunately, the american "Cabinet Grand Piano" is a bit like "Upright Grands" we see over here, it's all nonsense, a hyped-up very ordinary upright piano. "Upright Concert Grand" is the same.

You would have better chance of responses if you posted this again as a new topic, it has nothing to do with the Holland heading.
