I know nothing about piano but have wanted to learn to play for the longest time. Do I need any sort of prior training to use this site? I've tried to learn on my own but am so sick of playing songs like "Hot Cross Buns."

Try the book 'The Complete Piano Player ' Book 1 by Kenneth Baker. It uses songs you know (Abba, Elvis, Beatles, etc) and is designed for a person learning on their own.

Yep, dont do sightreading, just get some music you like the look of and try playing it. Thats sightreading
