Some advice please on selling a piano

Good morning.

My parents have owned a Bluthner upright piano, number 42680, for about 60 years, inheriting it from an aunt in Cheshire and which was supplied by Hime & Addison in Manchester.

The piano has successfully taught many children and grandchildren since then, however the time has come to sell it to pay for old age requirements.

The piano is in a good condition and located in North Wales.

Attached are four photos of the piano with one photo showing some handwriting as well?

What would be a reasonable price that they could expect to get for the piano?

Hello Chris

Unfortunately, no-one can place a value on a piano without an on site inspection - not even a ball park figure, I'm afraid.

Your piano is approx. 120 years old going by the numbers on the Bluthner website and, in general, old pianos are not in the least valuable even those from a good maker like Bluthner.

Your best option for a true market value in your local area, is to contact your piano tuner and ask his/her advice.

It might seem like an obvious advice, but I hope it helps.

You could check the value of similar pianos on eBay or some other website for selling pianos

But as other members of the forum point out, the piano is a complex machine - 10 000 parts, many things can be broken etc.
