Kemble Minx Mini Value?

Post by Stillt »

hi, my aunt recently passed away and has left the family with a kemble minx mini piano, from around 1960's.

We are very interested to find out the value of this, if we were to sell it, and where would we go to sell it? if its not worth much, we are going to donate it to a church etc

Thanks for the help in advance,

Regards

Depends where you live, how it's been looked after...all sorts of things. Risk a tenner or so and ask a tuner/technician to come and look it over for you. S/He will also know the state of the local market, may know where you can advertise it best and may even have a customer (or 'client' if you're somewhere posh like London!) who's looking for a piano just like yours! Of all the mini pianos (which give tuners the heebeegeebies, so if you don't want the piano tuned, say it's a Minx VERY QUICKLY when you get through to the tuner!)the Minx was about the best, and the houses they're throwing up these days are so small the small pianos fetch more than they're technically worth; one round here (Bucks) went for six hundred quid late last year. Good luck!

Thanks for the help...

some other information that might help:

We live in Hassocks, Sussex, South England

Condition of piano: Very good condition, has been serviced/tuned (by professional company) 3 times a year :) (is that a lot? seems it..)

Based on that informtion, any clearer ideas on the value?

Thanks again to those who have posted/will post

The people who look after it will have the best idea of price; give them a ring and ask the question! Is there a serial number inside it? That will pinpoint the date for us. Or again, the people who tuned it probably have a note of it. They'll have a better idea of market prices there as well.
