Inheriting a Ludwig Piano

Post by ranadelmaya »

Greetings:

I noticed that some users here can estimate a year of manufacture from a mere serial number on a piano.

I've inherited a Ludwig from my grandmother's estate. It's in rought shape musically but is a beautiful piece of furniture. I'm considering having it moved from MA to my home in TX and then having it restored. The sentimental value would, to some extent, offset the actual worth vs cost to move and restore.

Unfortunately I don't have a photo, but the serial number is:

57618

...would anyone care to estimate a manufacture year?

As a side, does anyone have info on reputable piano restoration professionals in or around Austin?

Thanks in advance.

The number suggests 1906.
