B.Boudon pianos, Lyon

Hello everybody. Any information about pianos by "B. Boudon, Lyon"? My friend has got one model of that and I would like to know more about it. Thanks. Mony.

Nobody can tell you anything about an individual piano just from the name. Can you post photos here to show what the whole piano looks like?

I have no historical information about Boudon, they were in business from at least the 1890s to the 1920s.

Unfortunately this is a very common style of French Pianino with "French Legs", made over such a long period that I have no idea how old this one might be. 1860S? 1890s? No dates of serial numbers are available. My guess was 1865, but Lieve Verbeeck tells me that Boudon was not established until 1891. I'm tempted to say this style didn't continue far into the 1900s.

Like British pianos of the period, many were either made for retailers by wholesalers, or small firms would buy in ready-made parts and build the pianos from them, so they look very much alike.

By the 1860s, many pianos like this were made by Bord, Erard, Elcke and Pleyel, and imitated by lesser-known makers.

I recently see a A.Bord Piano, sn 101679, with the same name of Piano manufacturer, and I find this about B.Boudon
He beagn to work on 1891

If it was made by Bord, we should be to date the number, but no such information is available for Boudon pianos, just that he started in 1891.
